In March of 2020 Curtis and his wife were both active members of the Canadian armed forces. "We purchased our first sawmill because we had 25 acres of pine and cedar and we wanted to turn it into fencing and enclosures for our small hobby farm."

In June 2020 Curtis was deployed to Latvia. When his tour ended, the family made the decision to return to their roots and move back to Bolsolver, Ontario.
